About Us
Lapland Arctic Cabins has been offering accommodation since the 1800s. The place has been owned by our family from the beginning and is known as Lohela’s lakeside cabins. Some of the Old Lohela accommodation cabins have changed ownership, but we still own 10 cabins, as well as a hostel and a restaurant building. The hostel and the restaurant building are currently being renovated and are not in use at the moment.
The location is ideal as it is situated by Lake Pöyliöjärvi, right near the center of Kemijärvi (700m). Traveling to us is easy. If you have a rental car, you can reach us in about an hour from Rovaniemi, where the nearest airport is located. Our place is also perfect for those traveling without a rental car, as we can pick you up from the airport for an additional fee.
If you are traveling via the famous train route from Helsinki, Kemijärvi is the final stop, and we will pick you up from the train at no extra cost. There are good bus connections from Rovaniemi to Kemijärvi, and we also offer free pick-up from the bus station, just book your ride via email.
Here you can spend a vacation all year round in your own peace, yet close to services. Our accommodation cabins are suitable for 1-6 people, choose the accommodation cabin you like best. All our cabins have cooking facilities and private bathrooms, some have their own sauna.Â
In summer, it’s nice to enjoy the day on the sandy beach and take a dip in the lake after the sauna. You can rent SUP boards and a rowboat from us.
In winter, our activities include ice fishing trips organized with our partners. Have you heard of Lapland’s Siberian huskies? We will take you to our partner, whose purebred Siberian huskies eagerly pull you through the snowy trails of Lapland.
Maybe you’re looking for more thrilling activities? How about a snowmobile safari? Our partner organizes safaris, and you can book them by phone or email. If you prefer independent activities, we rent snowshoes or gliding snowshoes and can guide you to the snowshoeing trails.
If you are interested in the magical hunt for the Northern Lights, we organize Northern Lights safaris where our guides will take you to the best spots to ensure your Lapland holiday is a success.
